Smashbox Photo Edit Eye Shadow Trio – I actually use it for something else…

Smashbox Photo Edit Eye Shadow Trio is one of latest essentials I’ve added to my daily makeup routine. It’s not as popular as my other must-haves, which mostly are cult favorites and award-winners, but this one somehow grew on me and eliminates the thinking of what shades to use.

The brand Smashbox is known to have super pigmented makeup products – be it eye shadow, lipstick, or eyeliner – and I was struck during my first use that the company wasn’t kidding that this is pigment-packed. I use the color Nudie Pic Light, which has the trio colors: vanilla, sable, and sumatra. For a fast under 5-minute eye makeup routine for work, I use the vanilla color to brush over my whole eyelid and brow bone and sumatra color to line my eyes (in place of eyeliner). Why I say this is pigment-packed is because I was about to give up on finding the eyeliner that wasn’t too dark and sharp, when for some reason I tried to draw a line with the sumatra color and it instantly gave a smokey eyeliner look. If I have time, I use the sable color for the crease area.

Now here is the thing that I use this for that might seem strange to some but works well for me, I use the sumatra color as an eyebrow powder. I’ve tried many bestselling eyebrow makeups – pencil, wax, gel – and everything was a bit off and not what I wanted. The sumatra color of this Smashbox trio eye shadow is perfect as my brow powder and looks natural and stays on all day.

But I do have one major complaint, which I see many other users also haveing problems with. The lid can be hard to open sometimes and if while trying to pry open the case you happen to drop it, your makeup will crumble and break into many messy pieces. I had this happen to two containers in a row. The first time I dropped it, it broke and is super pigmented so I needed to spend time cleaning my hands, the sink, and the floor. I blamed myself for being clumsy and vowed to be more careful the next time. I was especially careful when I bought this again and within 2 weeks two out of the three colors were broken and I had to move them to another empty makeup container. Now I blame Smashbox and I see I’m not alone here.

Overall, I will deal with the hassle of broken and messy eyeshadow pieces because this is the only all-in-one makeup I can find that is my eyeliner, eyeshadow, and eyebrow powder.
